As the shipping fleet is renewed with modern vessels, the Academy's teaching is equipped with new simulators and its laboratory network expands.
Buildings
The Academy's new block has been in student use since 2016. The four-storey building at 127 Kazim Kazimzade Street was fully refurbished with funding from the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), and its grounds landscaped.
Simulators
Simulators meeting the requirements of section B-1/12 of the International Convention are used in teaching:
- Engine Room Simulator ERS4000
- NT-4000
- TQS
- NS-3000
- Radar, Navigation, Electronic Chart and GMDSS simulators
Training Centre equipment
- Gravity-type lifeboat
- Wiking liferaft
- Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) simulator — POSEIDON and TRANSAS
- Live GMDSS equipment
- Radar observation and plotting / ARPA operation simulator — POSEIDON
- ECDIS operating procedures simulator
- Fast rescue boat specialist training simulator — TRANSAS
The Academy continuously equips its lecture rooms, laboratories and teaching cabinets with the latest technical training aids.
