How to get help from the trade union
Talk to your group organiser
The organiser is elected by open vote at the group’s general meeting for two years. Your first request goes to them.
The issue goes to the committee
Scholarship, accommodation, medical check-up and study-discipline issues are discussed in the committee, with the dean’s office where needed.
Get legal assistance
The commission advises members and helps them prepare applications and other legal documents.
What it does
- Scholarships — monitoring timely and correct payment of monthly scholarships; rewarding top students.
- Accommodation — places for students who need the residence hall, better living conditions.
- Health — liaison with the medical post, annual medical check-ups, discounted sanatorium vouchers for students in poor health.
- Public oversight — the services students use: library, canteen, buffet, medical post, residence hall, sports facilities and computer rooms.
- Leisure — trips to museums and historic sites, theatre, quiz competitions, festivals and sports days, holiday events.
Structure
A trade union group brings together at least 7 members studying in the same group; groups are represented on the faculty and Academy committees. The committee sets up commissions in line with the union’s charter:
- Organisation and Membership Commission.
- Labour and Social Protection Commission — legal advice, help with applications and documents, monitoring the collective agreement.
- Culture and Sport Commission — holidays, trips, theatre, clubs, quiz competitions, festivals and sports days.
- Health and Safety Commission — oversight of safety rules and sanitary conditions.
The committee also has departments for projects, sport (the Sports Society, which runs competitions within the Academy) and research (academic events and knowledge contests).
Legal basis
Group organisations operate under the Regulations on Group Trade Union Organisations in Higher and Secondary Specialised Education Institutions, approved by the plenary session of the Republican Committee on 18 June 2004. The committee’s main task is to protect members’ social and economic rights and legitimate interests.
