On June 24, 2026, the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy (ASMA) hosted a “Graduation Day” event dedicated to the graduates of the 2025/2026 academic year.

The event was attended by the ASMA management, the faculty, graduates, parents, and guests.

The ceremony began with the screening of the Academy’s anniversary video. Afterward, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and a minute of silence was observed to honor the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of our country, as well as the sailors who lost their lives while on duty. Following this, a video dedicated to the activities of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the history of maritime education in Azerbaijan, as well as photographs depicting the students’ college years, were displayed.

Speaking at the event, Acting Rector of ASMA Eldar Gojayev noted that this is the first “Graduation Day” event held under his leadership. He stated that this year’s graduates are completing their studies during such a momentous period as the 145th anniversary of Azerbaijani maritime education and the 30th anniversary of ASMA. Eldar Gojayev wished the graduates to possess high human qualities, serve the Motherland with loyalty, stay committed to the principle of lifelong learning, maintain close ties with the Academy, and represent our country worthily at the international level.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Gafgaz Ismayilov expressed gratitude to the ASMA management and faculty for their contribution to raising the students, wishing the graduates strong health and successful careers.

Faculty deans Rafig Asgarov and Elnur Abbasov congratulated the graduates and their parents in their speeches, noting that the graduates will always remain an inseparable part of the ASMA family and wishing them success in their future endeavors. Asadulla Suleymanov, Head of the Department for the Organization of the Educational Process, emphasized that ASMA graduates have the opportunity to work on vessels sailing across global waters and expressed confidence that they will always represent Azerbaijan with dignity.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Ziya Novruzov, Aynur Aliyeva, Rafat Ibadov, Farrukh Musayev, and Sooryajith Sajeevan expressed their gratitude to the Academy’s management and teachers, noting that the knowledge, skills, and friendships gained at ASMA will play an important role in their future lives. They stressed that regardless of where they work, they will proudly represent our country and wished their fellow graduates success.
