ASMA Holds the Regular Meeting of the Academic Council

On 1 July 2026, the Academic Council of the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy (ASMA) held its regular meeting. Chaired by Eldar Gojayev, Acting Rector of ASMA, the meeting resulted in several important decisions aimed at aligning the Academy’s governance with international standards, strengthening internal control mechanisms, optimizing the teaching workload of administrative staff, and enhancing the organization of students’ social and extracurricular activities.

The first item on the agenda focused on the implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) at the Academy, the results of the internal audit conducted in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 standard, and the optimization of the reporting structure of several departments as part of ongoing organizational reforms. The Council approved decisions to update internal regulatory documents, translate key institutional documents into English, revise job descriptions in line with international standards, and train a new group of internal auditors.

Another key issue discussed during the meeting was the optimization of the teaching workload assigned to administrative staff. To improve institutional governance and operational efficiency, the Council instructed the preparation of relevant internal regulations, consultations with specialists from the Ministry of Science and Education, and the establishment of a transparent mechanism for the allocation of vacant teaching hours.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council reviewed the preliminary results of surveys conducted among students, academic staff, and administrative employees. To promote more effective student engagement in sports and social activities, decisions were adopted to approve the Academy’s internal sports competition calendar, provide sports teams with the necessary equipment and uniforms, and establish intellectual clubs with the active participation of student organizations.
